Yesterday our class had the pleasure of Skyping with Sally Rutledge-Ott. Sally currently works with non-profit organizations doing PR and branding work. I always enjoy listening to speakers who have years of experience in their field. They’re confident and excited about the work that they do, and it’s evident throughout their presentations. Sally was no different.
During her presentation, she mentioned a few things about rebranding that I found extremely interesting. First, moving quickly is important. If a business is rebranding, it’s most likely because the brand that is already established is struggling. Clients may feel uncomfortable with the changes being made to their brand and this can lead to them dragging their feet. You have to move quickly in order to keep any pieces of the old brand from being associated with the new brand.
The next thing I took away from Sally’s presentation was the idea of partnering with other businesses and organizations. This can be a great way to open doors and reach new consumer niches. By creating packages or experiences that include other businesses, both parties benefit and the consumers get an experience that is exclusive and unique.
I enjoyed Sally’s presentation and I’m looking forward to keeping these ideas in mind for future projects.
